Extreme Rugged Recording Instrument with Removable Storage
Pentek
Pentek's Talon® RTX rackmount series recorders are designed for extremely harsh environments and provide unmatched performance and storage capacity in a new, military-specified rackmount chassis. Designed for field operation, the RTX extreme rackmount series provides aggregate recording rates up to 5 GB/sec with up to 30 TB of Removable SSD storage.

Pentek's QuickPacTM storage canisters can be easily swapped in the field without having to remove the complete recorder chassis. Each canister holds eight SSDs, providing up to 7.68 TB of storage per canister, and with up to four QuickPac canisters a total storage capacity of 30 TB is available. Once removed from the system data can be retrieved from the QuickPac Drives for analysis using one of Pentek's Talon offload or playback systems.

All Talon RTX rackmount recorders are designed to meet military specifications for temperature, altitude, shock, vibration, radiated emissions, conducted emissions, ESD, sand and dust as follows:

  • Vibration: MIL-STD-810F, method 514.5
  • Shock: MIL-STD-810F, method 516.5
  • EMI/EMC: MIL-STD-461E, CE101, CE102, CS101 CS114, RE101, RE102, RS101, RS103
  • ESD: MIL-STD-1686A
  • Sand & Dust: MIL-STD-810F, method 510

SystemFlow Recording Software

All recording systems are supported with Pentek’s SystemFlow Recording Software suite. SystemFlow provides a rich set of features for controlling the data acquisition and recording functionality of these systems and ensures a consistent look and feel for developers across all RTS systems.

SystemFlow’s GUI (graphical user interface) allows the operator to control all programmable hardware function parameters including gating, triggering, data formatting and clock selection on the various A/D, D/A, digital downconverter, and digital upconverter modules. A file management system supports recording and playback of data files on the RAID or JBOD with terabytes of storage and archiving of files to the host PC running Windows or Linux. Configuration profiles for specific hardware settings can be stored and retrieved to streamline setting up recurring measurement scenarios (ideal for Production Testing).

The SystemFlow Signal Viewer presents a calibrated time and frequency display of data files after signal acquisition and serves as a monitor of live input signals for a prerecording check. The SystemFlow API allows developers to configure and customize the subsystem interfaces and operation. Source code is supplied for all API functions, including real-time data acquisition, recording and playback functions and for the user-control software running on the host PC.
